How to Optimize Your Website for Image Search

As of September 2018, 21% of all web searches are Google Image searches. If you want the images on your site to show up as highly ranked search results for those visual searches, you need to optimize your site for image search. Follow these 10 guidelines to give your website images the best chance of showing up in Google Image searches. Use high-quality images in supported formats. If you’re trying to get your images to rank in Google Image searches, use crisp, high-quality images in an image format supported by Google: BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, WebP, or SVG. Choose relevant images. If an image doesn’t make sense on a page, Google won’t understand why it’s there and will be less likely to deliver it as a highly ranked search result, so all images on your site should be relevant to the content of the page they’re on. Put images in the right location on the page. Search engines use the text surrounding an image to identify and contextualize it, so be sure to identify the image in a

Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK) – Now Generally Available

I am always amazed at how our customers are using streaming data. For example, Thomson Reuters, one of the world’s most trusted news organizations for businesses and professionals, built a solution to capture, analyze, and visualize analytics data to help product teams continuously improve the user experience. Supercell, the social game company providing games such as Hay Day, Clash of Clans, and Boom Beach, is delivering in-game data in real-time, handling 45 billion events per day. Since we launched Amazon Kinesis at re:Invent 2013, we have continually expanded the ways in in which customers work with streaming data on AWS. Some of the available tools are: Kinesis Data Streams, to capture, store, and process data streams with your own applications. Kinesis Data Firehose, to transform and collect data into destinations such as Amazon S3, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, and Amazon Redshift. Kinesis Data Analytics, to continuously analyze data using SQL or Java (via Apache Flin

3 Customer Perspectives on Using Docker Enterprise with Kubernetes

We’ve talked a lot about how Docker Enterprise supports and simplifies Kubernetes. But how are organizations actually running Kubernetes on Docker Enterprise? What have they learned from their experiences? Here are three of their stories: McKesson Corporation When you visit the doctor’s office or hospital, there’s a very good chance McKesson’s solutions and systems are helping make quality healthcare possible. The company ranks number 6 in the Fortune 100 with $208 billion in revenue, and provides information systems, medical equipment and supplies to healthcare providers. The technology team built the McKesson Kubernetes Platform (MKP) on Docker Enterprise to give its developers a consistent ecosystem to build, share and run software in a secure and resilient fashion. The multi-tenant, multi-cloud platform runs across Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and on-premise systems supporting several use cases: Monolithic applications. The team is containerizing an existing

Kubernetes basic glossary

When I was starting to learn Kubernetes, I got overwhelmed with all of the elements it introduces. On the one hand, the more I was diving into it, the more new aspects I had to familiarize with. After a while though, I realized I wouldn’t leverage some elements at all, a couple of them I just don’t need yet and only a few are actually useful for my current requirements. I strongly believe this might be true in your case as well and I see lots of people having similar issues I described. That’s why I decided to present here a minimal stack required to deploy your own application onto Kubernetes and expose it externally. Prerequisites I assume you already have a Kubernetes cluster available. It can be installed locally or hosted, among the others, on Google Cloud Platform. Additionally, you may have a look at my recent article which will help you to set everything up: How to configure Google Kubernetes Engine using Terraform Image An image is a lightweight, standalone, e

All You Wanted to Know about Big Data Hadoop Universe!

Big Data Hadoop is everywhere. A majority of the companies are already invested in Hadoop and things can only get better in the future. Hadoop job market is on fire and salaries are going through the roof. Hadoop is the software framework of choice that is used to work with Big Data and make sense of it all to derive valuable business insights. Hadoop started out as a project to distribute data and processing power on to different computer hardware in order to get work done faster and more efficiently. It was named after the toy elephant of the son of one of the founders of Hadoop – Doug Cutting. Currently the Hadoop set of technologies and ecosystem is being managed by a global non-profit organization called the Apache Software Foundation. The Apache Foundation dictates the standards and norms and regularly comes up with new open sources technologies, tools and platforms that can work seamlessly with Hadoop. This Foundation is being maintained by an exclusive group of software

Top 5 Free Kubernetes courses for DevOps Engineers and Programmers

Hello guys, DevOps is becoming an essential skill in today's Programming and Software Development world and Kubernetes is an important concept and tool for DevOps Engineer. It takes container based deployment to another level and allows you to manage it on the scale. You can use Kubernetest to scale your container environment or let Kubernetes do all the work for you by leveraging its auto-scaling feature. Many DevOps beginners think that Docker and Kubernetes are the same but they are not. Docker provides a container to deploy your application and commands to interact with those but container but Kubernetes is actually a container management technology, which decides how many containers are needed and deal with other management aspects. In fact, Kubernetes is arguably the most important container management technology in the world at this moment and you shouldn't be surprised that roots of Kubernetes lie on Google itself. It's not a Google tool but created by a coup

Multiplayer of MotoGP19: How Milestone Moved to Amazon GameLift

Multiplayer games face some tough requirements to make believable worlds for players. And the meticulous attention to speed, accuracy, and physics makes real-world racing games one of the most demanding of all. So when players ask for that world to be taken online, how would you deliver the low latency and stability needed for high-powered motorsports? Milestone Producer Michele Caletti explains how they tackled this for their upcoming title MotoGP19 below: Milestone is an Italian game developer housed in Milan that specializes in racing titles. We have a lineup of games comprised of our own IPs, like Ride, and others based on real-world championships, like MXGP, AMA Supercross, and MotoGP. MotoGP has always been a “pioneer” title for us since we started to regularly work on the series in 2013. It was the first realistic racing game available on the current generation of consoles, the first Milestone game with an eSports championship ran with the license holder Dorna Sports. A

Why MEAN Stack for your next WebApp

In today’s dynamic world, churning out rapid application prototypes with super-flexible design which adapts to volatile specifications is the key business requirement. This necessitates a software stack which gives the required freedom and power to the developer to assume a flexible, locally owned schema, in-built support for end to end testability and harness the ever growing open source repository of re-usable plugins for speedy iterations. MEAN stack has proven to be an attractive choice to fulfil the above requirements. MEAN (MongoDB, Express, Angular & Node.js) is an open source JavaScript bundle for web-applications consisting of following components which can very well be used independently: MongoDB - a schema-less (document-oriented) NoSQL database Express.js - a server-side JavaScript framework running on top of Node.js Angular - a browser-independent MVC JavaScript UI framework Node.js - a server-side JavaScript runtime based upon Google's V8 JavaScript e
